I have a 8.5 pound bone in Boston
butt looking to smoke in a Masterbilt smoker, have heard a lot of different notes about time and temp but was wondering when should I look to start smoking if I was playing to have ready for pulling at 5pm tomorrow

We always figure about 2 hours per pound. If it gets done early, you can keep it warm wrapped in foil in a 170 degree oven until your ready to pull it.

When you get a chance would you swing by Roll Call & introduce yourself, so we can give you a proper welcome.

If you are cooking at 225° you should have started by now. I recommend that you bump up the heat to the max that your electric will do, that will cut down on the cook time and increase your chances of getting done in time for dinner. YMMV.
