Yes, I bought frozen birds! They have been thawing in the beer fridge for a couple of days and I just realized they still needed a bit more help (under cold running water) if I wanted them totally thawed for brining.

This is just a reminder ...... I am sure that no one has a frozen bird ...... but if you have a "friend" that does ........ tell him to get it thawed.

Happy Yuengling!

WOW, I forgot and just went down and pulled mine out of the freezer and stuck it into the fridge! I'll bring it up stairs tomorrow.

All of mine are already defrosted and 3 are already smoked and I just have i=one more to fry in the morning. We are alone for the first time in about 10 years on turkey day and we are doing a seafood boil. Sweet.

Mine (the one to be smoked) is thawed and ready for the brine tomorrow morning. I called our pastor (he's roasting one and deep frying one) and he said he already had them out. I then called Mrs Pastor a couple minutes later and asked if he was running to the freezer and she said he was!

He's going to have to explain that whopper to His Boss one day.

Next time you see him you should ask him if telling a small fib is a sin.
I have to give you

for the timely reminder. From the replys you already have is looks like you,ve saved at least a couple of people from potential culinary disaster.

I have a turkey farm nearby so I never worry about frozen birds anymore. In the past I remember one Easter dinner that was a day late because I forgot to thaw the bird. I was not on anybodys popularity list for quite a while after that faux pas.

My daughter needed this reminder. She made a full Thanksgiving dinner tonight and that poor bird roasted for 3 hours and was still half-raw on the inside. Too bad she wouldn't take her mama's advice...so, we had pizza instead!

I don't know why You are all cooking birds anyway, Thanksgiving was on the 12th of October. You've missed it by a mile.

Our tradition was to Celebrate Here in Canada with friends visiting from Spokane. Then 6 weeks later we would travel down to Spokane to visit with them and Celebrate Thanksgiving all over again. One year we also had our regular Christmas together and then We traveled down to the States to Celebrate Ukranian Christmas with them. Twice the presents. Yahoo! How clever is that?? BTW it was my idea if anyone wants to give out points for it.... hee hee

Sadly one of them has passed on and the other one is unable to travel on Her own any more.

We got a huge kick out of "cheating the gods" like that each year.

Mines in the fridge right now. I had it in the sink earlier for an hour or so while we went to the kids' play at school. I want it good and thawed because tomorrow evening its getting spatchcocked and going in the brine. Thursday at 6am its going on the smoker.

There is an inner peace one arrives at early Thanksgiving morning in the frosty darkness, hearing the popping of the charcoal starting in the chimney, smelling the smoke and sipping that first mug of coffee...
