Right outside of Charlotte, got a el cheapo brinkman a few years ago, and I got so frustrated with it that I gave up, now I just got a Cabelas 7 in 1 (made by masterbuilt) I just seasoned it this morning and wow what a difference stayed at 215 the whole time with no fuss. Now I am ready to take on some smoking! Love this forum wish I had discovered it a few years ago it would have saved alot of cussin! I am married no kids, just dogs(4 to be exact). I am a carpenter/cabinet maker, I do animal rescue and love to cook! One quick questions I often have scraps of cherry, maple, oak and hickory left over from building cabinets, it is unfinished but I did,nt know if it was treated with some sort of insetcide or something when it is milled? Thanks for your advice this seems like a great place full of knowledgeable people.

Welcome to SMF as for the wood I would save it for the fireplace and use only wood I knew was insetcide free.

Welcome to SMF glad you decided to join us. I'd agree about the wood if your not sure nothing has ever been sprayed on it no way I'd use it

I'm in Salisbury.. Welcome.. Hemi..

I wouldn't worry too much about the wood as long as there is no glue joints in it. be careful of laminations.. I am into Rottie rescue and have three now.. and again, WELCOME..
