City of San Leandro Marina Park Group BBQ and Smoker Cabinet
This Smoker Cabinet weights over 4,000lbs and was designed and fabricated by city staff in our Parks shop. It has triple walled doors with 2" of 2,400 degree ceramic insulation between each layer. All outer walls are double walled and insulated. Hinges on the doors are designed for 2,000lbs and there is three on one door so it should last forever. The outer walls are all 3/8 plate and some are 1/2 plate. The inner walls are 3/8 plate and one wall is 1/4 plate. The roof is 3/8 plate and was lifted into place after all of the fabrication was completed. The heat inlet is in the top of the cooker and the cool air outlet is in the bottom of the cooker. Cool air exhaust exits out the top where it is regulated/metered. Hot air inlet can also be regulated. The handles are mounted to solid 1 1/2 round stock steel and a large roller bearing contacts on the inside to suck the door tight. There are 4 thermostats on the doors to monitor the temps. The two handles on the bottom regulate cool air to the coals. Under the cabinet is a 2,000lb metal frame structure that allows for ashes to build up about 3ft before it needs to be cleaned out by Parks staff.
