Anyone making their own charcoal? I have lots of walnut, ash, sassafras, and maple. I read sassafras is not suitable for smoking but would the taste be in the charcoal? Most of it is a by-product of habitat manafement.

GonnaSmoke Thank you. I am retired also but I have a ton of scrub oak, walnut, maple, and dead ash. I have watched some of the videos and thought I might give it a try.
