You might be a redneck....Stuffed Loin

    If your son uses all of your butcher's string and you replace it with bailing wire.....you might be a redneck.

    So I guess it isn't that bad, but darn close. The string was nowhere to be found (I know good and well where it went). So, I have a whole spool of aluminum wire left over from my armour making days (that's another story). I sure felt like a redneck when I started, but I can tell you now, this is the only way I'm doing it going forward. Easier to work with than string and way easier to get good and tight.

    Was lazy tonight and did this guy at 325 in the drum with some peach wood. Has onions, peppers, string cheese, and some seasoned butter. Cooked an hour on 1 side. Flipped and cooked another hour on the other side. Should have sauteed the veggies first, but still good.

    Just don't get pissed when your butchers sting shows up on the neighbors hay bails.........

    It does look great though, nice work. Just don' tell him that taking your string worked out in a good way...

    Hey no worries, Man. I woulda used a wire clothes hangar....like the kind holding up my car's tailpipe!

    Great looking roast loin there, and precooked vegs or not, that is one outstanding creation. Beautifully done, bud!

    Good lookin' Loin, Josh, and some creative adjustments to adapt and overcome against the odds...heh-heh-heh...dang I'm still chuckling!

    BTW, Josh, I'm just guessing here, but, was someone flying a Kite earlier today?

    That looks great Josh. And in it's own way just another subtle reminder that Ma want's me to do a couple of stuffed loins for a family get together in a couple of weeks.

    A stuffed loin is the next thing on my to smoke list. Almost did one last weekend, but went the easy route with the roast beef...

    Be careful how you cook with aluminum. This is very unhealthy, mater of fact, in the US, FDA laws forbids food touching bare aluminum.
    Very bad for you.

    I have heard of this before, namely on the context of Alzheimers, but guess I have to wonder how it is any different than aluminum foil. The wire was cleaned well before use (out of common courtesy for my family who would be eating it).

    Now cast aluminum, that's another story.

    I picked up some "rubber bands" in the cooking section of a store last year, they're made out of whatever it is they're making potholders out of these days. Theyre oven safe - made specifically to replace butchers string. They work great, easy, & easy to clean.

    Yeah, I've used dental floss in a pinch. Not wire though. :)

    And now I need to stuff a pork with peppers and onions, that looks awesome. Did one with bread stuffing a couple weeks ago, that was a big hit. Made gravy out of the drippings, scalloped potatoes on the side.

    The differance is aluminum for food use has a clear coating on it, (foil, pop cans, serving pans, etc)

    That damn pic should be in a food magazine with directions on how- to- do!! Great looking smoke.

    While a got ya here, isn't there a hamburger joint in Sedalia that serves peanut butter burgers??? My girls and i passed thru there the other day and i was telling them about something and it lead to the belief that the joint was for real. Help me out Geek. Thanks for any info on the burger joint.

    That being said, the WHO has reported that "there is little indication that [aluminum] is acutely toxic by oral exposure dispite its widespread occurence in foods, drinking-water, and many antacid preparations"

    I know the concerns in general, but I guess I have to think that an approximate 0.02% (6 wires, of 1/16" in diameter on a 16" piece of meat) area that my pork loin came in contact with the wire is of little consequence.

    I would have to guess that the cup of butter used in the pork loin is probably going to kill before the aluminum makes me crazy (crazier).

    You got it man, "The Wheel-In". Unfortunately during the last highway expansion, the guy had to shut down and the building was torn down. Somebody built a new While-In, but it isn't the same. That being said, I put peanut butter on every burger I grill for myself. (I also put cheese on my apple pie, but that's a different story)
