Folks,

It's been a while since I posted any pics (q-view or other). The village where I live has a week long Winter Carnival Celebration that started last weekend. There are lots of activities during the week and it culminates with a Gala Parade on Saturday. Each year an Ice Palace is built. The history of this goes back to the time when blocks of ice were cut and stored in Ice Houses and then used to cool things all summer. They would cut the ice, build a palace and then take it down and store the ice in the ice houses. There are no more ice houses because we all have these new-fangled thing called refrigerators. The tradition of building the Palace for Carnival has survived.

I took a couple shots of this year's palace. One in the day time and one at night. I thought I would share them with you.

Take care, have fun, and do good!

That is very cool (no pun intended), thanks for sharing.

There are people around my area that still save the ice blocks out of tradition in a shed and then in the middle of summer have partys using the ice blocks to cool the beer kegs.
