" What are you watching it on? " from Ryan

I watch it on my TV as on my phone it is too small...... lol,. I know I'm an ass.

Really i am watching it on " W " Woman's network , which is just part of regular tv programing . It might also be on their streaming side of things . But i have it to record as it isa always hit and miss for me to be able to sit at the right time for it to be on.

So it is the final season which is Season 7

Hope this helps Ryan

David
Thanks David! And that's the response I expected of you! :emoji_blush:

I'm watching Landman and am mixed about it. I have to keep reminding myself its fiction and written for drama. But while they get some things about the oil patch right, they get a whole lot wrong.

I could list all the things that make me cringe, but it would take too long. I do give them credit, I was expecting a version of the old Dallas series, and this does not paint a picture of oil gas as being evil and wicked.

It is entertaining though. I'm enjoying the series.
I couldn't agree more Okie. I have to remind myself that the folks in Hollywood have never gotten their hands dirty so how would they really know. I too was glad that the story line was not intent on bashing the oil and gas industry.

It was good to hear them state the reality of renewables and what replacing oil means to our lives.

But when Norris grinned about companies taking down refineries for maintenance to drive the price of oil to $100 a barrel, that made me cringe.

It doesn't work like that.

Refiners are in the middle between two markets, on the input side its the oil market and gasoline market on the output.

If the refinery is not operating, they're not buying any oil, and that lowers demand for oil and the price drops. It does lower supply of gasoline which drives price up. But if the refinery is not producing product, they're not realizing the higher price.

There's no incentive to take down a refinery even in the fully integrated oil companies.

There rest of the inaccuracies were minor issues. The blowout of the older producing well is highly improbable. Blowouts happen during drilling. Older wells with pumping units don't have that kind of pressure.

And roughnecks work on drilling rigs. Pumpers and Roustabouts work on existing wells. They don't work on a rig one day and a well the next. Two separate skills.

I can overlook all of that though, this is not a documentary.

I love my football but it's required in my circle. My wife is a big of a fan as I am (helps that her dad & brother were/are coaches.)

Recently I officially retired after 43 years of working in the oil & gas drilling industry (AKA old worn out roughneck) so I might have to check out this Landman series at some point. I hear ya about the inaccuracies but it's TV and the general public won't know a collar clamp from a BOP bolt.

CFP are gonna be awesome. I love thee 12 team bracket and the NFL playoffs are starting to line up with the comers & goers.
Unfortunately it won't include my Cowboys 🤷‍♂️

For public consumption for someone like me who knows nothing about hands on roughnecking I think they do a good job of conveying the danger and hard work involved. Add to that Billy Bob and you have entertainment. Oh and lastly the liberal sprinkling of bikini babes does not hurt 😆

Working on the floor of a drilling rig is a dangerous place. There's lots of steel flying around. Its a good place to lose fingers, or hands, or even arms , if not on occasion , a life.

And oh yeah, my experience out in the field , circa 1979 , was there was not very many women out there. And there was nothing like bikini babes in this series.

But heck, that was 40 years ago and maybe its changed

Good series.
I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. I'm hooked now.

Even if it doesn't have a primary plot. Yellowstone's main plot was Dutton fighting off people trying to take his ranch. And subplots developed off of that.

But I don't see where Landman is going. I don't see a main plot. Its like we just dropped in on Tommy Norris's life in Midland, Tx . So far, its been a series of vignettes. Very entertaining vignettes, however.

Taylor Sheridan can write some dialogue. He's purty gud.

YouTube TV has commercials, I have it and love it. The streaming with no commercials is slowly going away. Sub fees alone simply don't support the programming . Many of the streamers operated in the red for years to build a customer base. It was just a matter of time.
When the ability to avoid commercials is totally eliminated, that will be a good day. I can eliminate TV from my house and break that addiction. But until then, thats probably why Dish is still worth the money for me as long as IT remains viable, and that's in question. But the main value with Dish is the DVR for me.

So you are saying the entire pay for TV with money rather than your time is dying? The one thing with dish and some of the pay streamers that annoys me is paying a fee, THEN having to watch commercials:emoji_angry:

Any of you guys ever used Amazon Prime Video? We have it because we are Prime members and use it to watch Thursday night football but haven’t really explored it past that. Curious how it stacks up to Netflix and Hulu, we currently have dish and our equipment is old so thinking of just streaming.
We have Prime, mainly because it's simplifies shipping. We probably pay for the shipping through the prime fee and higher listed prices as a prime member, but I like bieng able to order a $6 item and not thinking about the $10 shipping! When we went Prime I did an anonymous test and at the time prices were slightly higher across the board as a Prime member if you looked at amazon from a device and an account that had never had Prime. Maybe that's changed, I dont know.

As far as video, it used to be OK...but now they want $10 more month for no commercials, and their commercials aint no joke, they are like watching the major networks live. Prime never did have enough content we liked to serve our TV watching time. Much like most of the streamers. We can usually watch-up all the content we care to watch on any service in about a month, then wait 6-12 months and come back and rinse and repeat. That's why so many of them have stopped dropping entire seasons at once and string you along. We dont play that. There is NOTHING that important to watch that I cant wait 6 months to a year to see...or more. It's just TV.

I caught myself writing a spoiler...so I'll just say, they make brass hammers for a reason and a pipe wrench has a "direction" it is intended to be used:emoji_laughing:
