No, it is fully digital. It has the digital controls at the top of the smoker. This is the control panel on it:

I think they lump them all together now , but when the digital first came out the Masterbuilt electric smoker was the analog and the MES ( Masterbuilt electric smokehouse ) was the digital .
That's how they kept them identified for warranties , operation and parts .
Just FYI . Refer to an MES and the old guys know what you have .

Anyway , as stated in a couple posts above I would say your problem is condensation and bad smoke .

Already been said , but no water in the pan .

If your currently dumping wood chips in the tray , you should clean the ash out of the tray during a long smoke . The ash an cause the new chips to not fully burn and put out dirty smoke .
