Well, she didn't really leave me per se.

She has been unemployed since September 1st. So about 1 1/2 weeks ago she announced she may have a job offer in Utah which is where we wanted to move 2 years ago when we had our house sold to some jackasses that backed out of the deal when they hadn't sold their house, lawsuit pending.

We have been using her 401k to survive since then.

Anyway, she has the job and has to report Feb 1 st.

She has been packing up the house and has it about 75% done and she left this AM and just arrived within 50 miles of her destination and will get there tomorrow.

It is a decent job at the University in the pediatrics dept admittance dept with good benifits ETC.

Since she was the main person eating my smokes and is gone I am going to quit smoking for now.

The plan is to rent, sell, or maybe the best is a rent to own deal that Dave (piginit) suggested. I contacted a property management company here and he said rentals were not plentyful. We have a big Hewlit Packard building going on here now.

She wants me to get everything done here and be ready to pack the truck March 1st and her and her sister will fly back here to take the truck to Utah. I have a lot on my plate here but will have to get it done.

It sure is going to lonley here, but at least I have my 2 dogs to keep me company. They are already missing her.

Thanks for reading since I feel this is family here. Wish me well.

well, good for her and at least you know what is in your future........sorry about the smokes...... i feel for ya!

You could do a whole bunch worse than Utah Ron. Some nice country around there. I know things have been a little rough for you lately. I hope you the best.

Aww, sorry to hear Ron. A lonely house without the wife is a lonely thing indeed. At least you got the dogs, but like my two dogs, they are probably just as sad and lonely too without their mama alpha dog around.

I sure hope all the best for you and your wife in this new chapter in your lives. Moving does suck, but I hope after you get all settled things will be brighter for you. You know we support you here.

That sucks that your alone but great that she got a job with good benefits. Good luck buddy

Hey Ron, sounds like a great opportunity for the both of you. I sure hope the Wisconsin house sale issue gets resolved soon too, that was a really low-down thing for them to do.

Don't let the DT's get the better of you...I know how I feel after a week with no thin blue...I feel like a lost puppy-dog...LOL!!!!!!! Being temporarily separated from the spouse is never fun either...I did that way too many times for my previous job, hence the word previous.

You know how to find us when you get internet set up at your new residence and fire up the MES again.

I'll miss your fine cooking until then, but I'll figure out a way to manage.

You know, you can spend some of your idle time between getting ready to move for dreaming up some more of your great ideas to share with us when you start smoking again. You've cranked out some mighty good ideas and recipes since I joined, so I know there's got to be more to come!

I will be waiting for your return to smoking.

Best wishes to You, Carol and your smokin' companions (the pups).

Eric

Good Luck on the Move Ron. Some pretty country up in Utah...

Hope it all goes smooth Ron. We will miss your wonderfull Qview till you get a chance to do some more smokin'.

Well most importantly-Good luck Ron.
Don't quit smoking for any reason man, what are you going to do, boil your ribs and do microwaved Yoshida flavored steaks?
If I were close enough (even a days drive away) I would be more than glad to come out and help with the packing, and eat your smoked food so you have a reason to smoke

Everything will work out fine, I'm sure it will.

well ron, look at the bright side... you will be finally ending up in utah where you had intended all along. i can only imagine what a pita moving would be, you stick around one place for a time and you do indeed begin to grow roots which make it a little tuff initially. you are fortunate you are not leaving family behind, actually moving closer to family at least on your wifes side.

i hope the house works out, perhaps the rent to own like dave suggested be the best... hard to say but at least instead of straight rent the people will have interest in the house and maybe take better care of it and would mean less maintainance for you.

kinda sucks about the smokes but you get settled in utah and you will be smokin up a storm i bet... wishin you and carol the best of luck in the move and with her new job.

This is all in the big plan, Ron; there's a reason she got the job and you're moving there, you don't see it now but eventually it will become evident and it's all for the better.
1997 we did the same thing; after my mother died there was nothing to hold us to the north country and when we went to Texas to our son's wedding, we talked to his store manager and he said they had a lot of openings in stores there for managers (I was a store manager in NY); then we heard on the news that FW Woolworth was closing. My store was in a mini mall below FW Woolworth's; I knew if it closed my store would too. We flew back to NY and 2 weeks later I got a call from a DM in Fort Worth asking me to come out and take over a store; he had 6 openings, pick whichever one I wanted. I inventoried out of my store and spent the weekend with my wife and younger son, packed up what I could into our beat up Ford Escort and took off Monday morning at 6 am. The plan was for Linda to sell the house and come out in 3 months or sooner, I'd get a small apartment and we'd have to pay for two residences until then.
Well, the three months turned into a year and by the following August we had only enough money for one month's more rent; either we sold the house and she moved out or I was moving back. She saw an ad for Humes Realty that offered 'Property Management' and called them, the only one in the NNY area that did that kind of thing. They had our house leased in 20 days and she got the moving van to take the stuff and she and Rob and the dog headed for Fort Worth! I had two days to find a house to rent so the moving van had a place to unload! My older son and I looked at properties and signed the lease and I called the driver to give him the address an hour before he got to Fort Worth! (BTW, Humes Realty is owned by the brother of Mary Margaret Humes, actress, who is native to Watertown NY!)
That winter they were between tenants at the old house and the gas got shut off on the street; the power co. went house to house to make sure everyone's pilot lights were lit and not spewing gas. They contacted Humes and he met them there, they turned on the furnace, and said "Oh it's 36° in here, that's ok.." (the NiMo tech said). 6 days later the postman noticed a thick sheet of ice on the front porch and called it in. That night, the pipes to the upstairs bathroom froze inside the wall (which was well below 36°) and dumped 17,000 gallons of water throughout the upstairs of the house... on the hardwood floors, carpet, then leaked to the main level, bringing down ceilings, walls (all beautiful lathe and plaster) and into the basement flooding the furnace and ruining it. Gary called us and said, "Uh, the house had a little problem.." My wife was devastated. But, I told her it was the best opportunity we'd ever had! Gary was looking forward to showing the house for sale that weekend, now it was in a dumpster with rugs torn out laying in the snow, warped floors, everything. I told him to go right ahead and show it; he thought I was crazy (I'm not crazy, I'm a salesman!) and told him to tell the prospective customer, "Hey look, you get a free remodel and get to choose your wall colors and brand new carpeting all throughout!". Our insurance agent took over, called in an adjuster, worked with Humes to line up contractors and got the house completely restored. Oh, and those people signed the purchase offer that weekend, too; they couldn't believe the amazing deal they were getting on the house! We sold the house and even got the deductible covered by cost savings on materials, so it didn't cost us a thing.
Looking back you couldn't have constructed a plot more precisely. It just shows that there already is a big plan for each and every one of us, it's our job to guide it in the right direction with our faith. And we have faith in your, Ron, that you'll get through this and join your wife and enjoy the fruits of your labor sitting down to a great meal, be it in NM or in Utah!

Ron - moving is a royal pain. My last one was in 1996 and they will carry me out of here on a board some day. Not doing that again.

Hope all works out for you and Carol. Thanks for your help.

However, you haven't spoken about one critical issue - Can you get Yoshida's in Utah? LOL
PDT_Armataz_01_12.gif
Might have Carol scope it out so you can stock up, just in case!

Best wishies for you and will look forward to seeing you activly smoking and trying new things once you get settled.

Hey Ron,
Best of luck in your moving/renting/selling.
Won't be long, all that hassle will be in your rearview mirror, and you'll be smokin' some Utah meat, while suckin' up a couple of cold ones.
If you have to quit smoking for awhile, don't quit commenting on this forum---Your 2 cents is always worth a lot more!
