I presently own an Inkbird IRF-4S that works very well with a few cons:

My hearing isn't all that good and I can't hear the alarms on it. Even with hearing aids.

I do a lot of high temp searing and the probes on the Inkbird don't hold up at high searing temps.

It would be nice to have wireless probes.

Check out the new ThermoWorks RFX.
Wireless, I think the probes are good to 1000°f. 1-4 probes.

It is going to be my next purchase.

FORGET ABOUT MEATER AND AIRPROBE, HAD ONE OF EACH THAT GOT TOSSED BEFORE COMPLETEING THEIR FIRST COOK, JUNK THAT NEVER WORKED A LICK. DECIDED TO GIVE IT ONE LAST SHOT, ORDERED THE TEMPSPIKE XR MADE BY THERMPRO LAST WEEK.

SPUN A YARDBIRD ON MY KETTLE YESTERDAY FOR THE INITIAL RUN, PUT A PROBE IN EACH SIDE OF THE BREAST. THE THING WORKED FLAWLESSLY; BIRD PULLED WHEN ONE PROBE READ 166º, THE OTHER ONE DEGREE HIGHER. HARD TO SEE BECAUSE THE NUMBERS FLASH ON AND OFF, BUT IT'S THERE

DSCN0028.JPG

BIRD CAME OUT PERFECT, NICE AND JUICY, GOBBLED DOWN THAT NICE SKIN TOO, NOTHING LIKE SPINNING A YARDBIRD OVER OPEN COALS AND SPLITS

DSCN0027.JPG

PLATED IT UP WITH SOME BEANS AND RICE

EASY TO USE AND WORKED PERFECT! NO BLUETOOTH, APPS, OR OTHER JUNK THAT BREAKS AS SOON AS YOU OPEN THE BOX. WORTH THE MONEY, HOPE IT LASTS. RAY

I was given a Meater...used it a couple times. Seems very meh. the chamber temp part is so far off its totally useless. I dont get the popularity at all. I use all my other probes and instant reads all the time.

Thermoworks is the best. used them for decades. customer service is amazing!

At some point I want to have a set of wireless probes....

Just an interesting note is that the construction QC industry has picked these type of probes up big time. They are called smart rocks and we toss them in the concrete pour in specific places to monitor the cure temperature, so they can be made very durable..... we will spend 10K plus or minus per project on these little rocks but have saved some serious bacon on some projects.......

That's because it's so close to cold meat in the beginning . Evens out as the cook goes on , but then you're done and don't need to know anymore . Lol .

I got it for the spinner , but I'll use it just for the easy of no wires . Mine was a gift so I use it for that reason too .

Stuff I really care to keep an eye on gets the Signals , but fact is anyone that does this like we do should know what's going on without a therm .

The ThermoPro TempSpike XR came today. I like everything about it and it's a nice unit. I made some loaded potato skins tonight and decided to test it. Unfortunately (1) of the (2) probes quit working after thirty minutes. No amount of resetting or re-syncing will get it to work. The other probe works perfectly. Amazon is sending me a replacement. Should get it Saturday.

THERMPRO HAS SEEMED TO BACK UP THEIR PRODUCTS PRETTY WELL OVER THE YEARS, BETTER THAN MOST FROM WHAT I'VE EXPERIENCED. WHEN THE NEW PROBE ARRIVES MAKE SURE TO PLUG IN AND GET A REALLY GOOD CHARGE IN, I'D GO A GOOD FOUR HOURS JUST TO MAKE SURE IT'S READY TO GO AND THE CHARGE LASTS. RAY

Amazon is pretty easy to deal with as far as returns go. I had it out of the box again today to see if the bad probe was working and now neither probe works. Both are dead. Things happen.

Replacement TempsPike XR was delivered today and tried it out on a couple of baked potatoes tonight. Works perfectly. I like the way it's set up. For some reason phone apps don't work well where we live and this is exactly what I was hoping for. Alarms are loud and it seems to be easier (for me) to program temp alarms than the Inkbird.

Thanks for your updates. I will stick to a Thermopro wired with four probes for now.

Waiting for the bugs to get worked out and a 4 wireless probe unit.
