The "REAL" truth about Jeff's rub......

    I have been in this forum for almost a year now and thanks to you guys I have learned alot about smoking meat. Since day one I have seen this offer to buy recipes for a rub and bbq sauce. I thought to myself who in the world would pay for a recipe? There are tons of free ones all over the internet. I saw the testimonials and figured this guy had his friends write some nice things about his recipes so he could sell them to some poor suckers. Needless to say I was a skeptic.....

    Until this past weekend!!! I finally decided to give the recipies a try and ordered them last week. I told my wife I was smoking ribs and she said "why don't you make something I like" (she loves pulled pork). My ribs have been awful in the past and she wasn't looking forward to having them again. I pulled the ribs(w/ Jeff's rub) out of the smoker and something was different. They looked perfect! Not dry at all. Then, I tasted them..... honestly, the best ribs I have ever eaten! But the real test would be my wife. She loved them and so did the girls!!! (I should probably back up and tell you that our second oldest daughter is not much of a meat eater and hates meat off of the bone. She asked for seconds and thirds!) My wife must have told me 10 times that she loved the ribs.

    So the reason I posted "the REAl truth...." is for all of you skeptics out there that, like me, didn't believe this could be this good. This is a 100% unsolicited testimonial... these are the BEST ribs you ever ate!

    I am with you there. I recently ordered the recipes and am not disappointed at all! Thanks Jeff for sharing the recipes! They are incredible!!!

    I'm proud to say that the above is my honest opinion and the honest to God truth!
    If I seem overly excited and "infomercial like" its because I have spent the past year making crappy ribs, and wasting a bunch of $$$.

    Again, this is MY testimonial and I have never been contacted by anyone.

    LOL I wasn't sure what it was all about at first either. Sometimes I'm a bit slow at picking up things and I saw this advertizment all over the place which frankly turned me off. As I got to know Jeff's through the posts on tis wonderful site I thought to myself - he's a good man, he does at this work for us providing this site and a safe and wonderful place to meet other people with this passion to smoke. The very least I can do to show my support to him by buying his recipes - so I did.

    They are fantastic and very adaptable to your tastes. You can add some heat if you like or not without changing the basic recipe. It's not to strong for children and not to mild for adults. The rub is really cool in that it almost turns into a sauce using the moisture from the meat.

    I was like you XTexan, I bought the rub just cause I felt guilty getting so much good out of the site. I had it for about a month and decided to try it. I also changed a few things about the way I make my ribs, but the rub really helped.

    Best $$$ I've spent in a long time.

    I've never tried it, but I know some who have.. Wait a minute, let me re-phrase that. I tried it but I didn't inhale... well I might be wrong. I only inhale when the food is done.. Hi my name is PigCicles and I have a problem .......... [​IMG]

    I was uneasy paying for a list of ingredients also, but everyone here was bragging up the recipe. Then I thought about my $10 per year membership fee to hunting and fishing sites, and all the other ways I blow money in a year. Figured it had to be good and quite honestly a cheap price for all I have gained in information and knowledge from this site. First time I tried both recipe's I was more than pleased. Personally I can not put a price on the compliments others have given me on my smoked goodies, and Jeff's recipe's have gotten me many. Having people tell you it is the best ribs they have ever had, people asking you to cook for them, this is what a majority of thrive on and you can not put a price on that.

    When I first found Jeff's site, I too saw the advertising for the rub and sauce and thought "yea right!". I thought he was selling the spices themselves, not the recipe. It took me about a week of reading the whole site and getting more and mroe into it. I didn't even realize it, but my wife told me it must be a good site, because I wouldn't shut up about it![​IMG]

    Usually when I see advertising, blow them off. Then one day, I actually looked at the advert and thought for the money, just the info that I had gained from the site was worth the money I paid for the recipe. I have bought several BBQ books and got no where near the real world info that I have gotten from this site.

    That being said, I bought the recipe and like you, had minimal success coming up with my own rub that everyone liked. I could eat my ribs, but everyone else took a bite and you could tell they didn't like them. I was not satisfied at all.

    Then quitely, I bought the recipes and used them on some country ribs. Smoked for 4 hours. Had my wife and a few friends over who had been test subjects before. You could tell they were guarded when they found out what I was cooking.

    Then they tried them. There are not many better feelings in the world than watching someone enjoy the food that you poored your heart into making.

    They all lit up and gobbeled up 10 lbs of country ribs! I usually throw out about half of what I fixed. There were no left overs this time. I use this rub mix for a lot now.

    I sprinkle it on ABT's.
    I use it in Chili.
    I use is in sloppy Joe's.
    I use it in cheese balls.

    Been thinking of trying it out in salsa.

    I bought some rub & sauce recipes off of E-Bay for alot more then Jeff's. WHAT A RIP!!!! some I was really leary of buying Jeff's but I also felt guilty about learning so much from here. I had a really hard time down loading it, but Jeff went why beyond helping me with my down loads. So I thought even if they tasted bad I still come out a head finding a new friend and more friends from the fourm. then I used the rub & sauce. DAMN!!!! that stuff is good. Like every one else I usethemon all kinds of things. Best money spent.

    you all almost have me talked into the deal. One question[​IMG] does it have a lot of salt? the wife has sodium issues & has to extremely limit salt[​IMG]. I have gone over dozens of rub recipes & cut most of the salt out & came up with my own & the family & neighbors love the ribs. A few even have said best they ever had[​IMG]. I'll find out when I am judged in the backyard competition at Silver lake [​IMG][​IMG] or however it goes.

    NO John!!! Not too much salt. Best thing is, if you think it is too salty.......cut back next time.

    Believe me, you won't regret it one bit. + the info you get from the site is worth that alone.

    He has a money back guarantee, I think [​IMG] , maybe I spoke out of turn. I don't care, I'll pay you back if you don't like it, I promise! I've never talked to jeff and have had no "relations" w/him(that could be taken wrong), but I'll back it up myself.

    I actually add salt for my taste but if your wife has sodium issues then adjust accordingly. I was surprised it didn't call for more salt.

    "Da Rub" as I now call it works impressively well! It is the perfect base to start from imo.

    As far as the price goes, hell I would have paid that just to be a part of this wunnerful forum.

    Once I pay the bills & buy the ribs for the comp. IF there is anything left & I can get it past the war dept. (wife) I buy it.

    My wife in to into the "heat" that some rubs have from either chille or's the rub in this area?

    Smoke, my kids don't like any heat.......and I even add more to it and they love them. I have heard that some say it is hot enough, so to each their own. The nice thing is you can cut some of the heat out, or all of it. You do have to buy the ingredients, but you can play w/them. You buy something off the shelf it WILL usually have way tooo much salt and it may not be hot enough, this you can add easily.

    If ya cant' buy this rub, then you shouldn't have bought the meat. Ramen pride at $.10/bag is much cheaper than smok'n meat, been there done that. [​IMG][​IMG]

    Not pressure, but it is a great rub and not just for ribs.

    Being as it's a recipe and a good one you can add heat, salt, garlic whatever you want. It's mild enough for kids to enjoy but flavorful enough for an adult. Easy to adapt for you smoking pleasure! It is NOT salty or hot but it is delicious!

    I bought Jeff's rub and made the same batch size that came with the instructions. It makes quite a bit and I was wondering how much do you put on a rack of ribs? I finally ran out after about 5-6 slabs of babybacks. Does this sound about right? Too much? Too little? The taste was great, but perhaps a bit week?
