Folks.. I deleted the other thread since it quickly turned into a bashing thread.
While it may seem to be warranted.. it is not needed.
Those who have made bad choices in using this forum as a tool to solicit membership for another one will have to live with the responsibility of their mistake.
It is not condoned here and there will be consequences.
That is all that is needed or required.
Let me make this clear.. I have NO problem with anyone being members of various forums.. barbecue or fishing or whatever. I do that too.
It is the method by which the other forum is being populated that is lacking in character and not the fact that we have a competing forum.
I would not even call it a competing forum.. I mean how do you compete with something like the SMF?
You don't.
We have nearly 7000 members due to the fact that we are NUMBER ONE in google for several major keywords and when folks come here they find that it is the neatest thing since sliced bread and they stick around.
We ain't gonna diminish if a few decide to leave.
The other forum may gain a few from this forum but they will top out very quickly unless someone pays some big bucks for advertising or plays their SEO cards very well.
If any of you wants to start your own forum.. have at it. My blessings are with you. Just don't be underhanded about it and don't use the SMF tools to build it. Do it the same way I did and use the search engines, word of mouth, and paid advertising if you need to.
Let's not stoop to the level of others by bashing those who seem to have made some very bad choices.
Enough has been said about this and we have a ton of newbies who are probably scratching their heads wondering what is going on.
They just wanna learn how to smoke meat so let's show them how do that since we do that so well.
I understand those of you who are speaking your mind... the SMF has been a long time home for many of you and it appears that some are trying unsuccesfully to damage it.
I can assure you that the SMF is here to stay and is in no way affected by the very few who would like to see it fall.
I appreciate all of your comments but now let's get back to smoking meat and leave the drama to eat the dust.
