Pamatai, Tahiti
I worked late tonight so I took Mrs JPT out to eat, here are some pics of where we went.

These are rolottes, modified delivery vans, you find them everywhere, this is an area built for them next to the cruise ship docks, but they can be found along side of a road and in residential neighborhoods. Most of them cook Chinese food and steak 'n fries, some specalize in pizza and some in crepes.

This is Mr Kim's rolotte, his is one of the cleanest and the food is delicious.

Menu.

Mr Kim's work station.

Chao Mein cooking.

Dinner, sashimi with rice for the Mrs, chao chap and garlic rice for me.

This rolotte's specialty is crepes and galettes.

Charcoal bbq, notice the galvanized charcoal tray.

This is a gas fired with lava rocks grill.

And this is, ...self-explanitory.

Yep, galv pipe, oil drum and a old refridgerator shelf.

They set up at 6 pm and go 'til 2-4am, the bars are just across the street, so when people have the munchies there is always food cooking.

I hope you enjoyed a little part of Tahiti that you don't see in the travel brochures.

Thanks for looking,

Gene

Interesting, thanks for sharing.

Very nice.Great to put some pics to tahiti(SPELLING)

I have this pic in my head of an elevated thatch hut in the jungle and you bbq....

Those pictures are really cool. I like the way the food is made but we have to talk about that pig it's looking a little thin there. Just kidding. Looks like some fine looking food. Now all you have to do is go get sloppy drunk and eat some of that really good food. Cause we are fat kids here that are starting to travel for food. This could moved Tahiti up a notch or two.

Meatball, never been scuba diving, but done alot of snorkling, it's AWESOME!

trav, your welcome, yeah, unfortunately they are not too worried about hygiene or saftey here.

cman, you understand, you've seen the same thing.

Ron, my pleasure.

ronp, payback, I have learned so much from your posts.

ALX, That's a good one, actually we built our own house, it's the only American style house here and I built it in solid concrete to withstand a cyclone.

Rick, you're welcome.

Rivet, there are alot of things that the etrangers (tourists) have never seen.

Dude, I'd love to see your cows!

mballi, thanks, glad you liked them, skinny pig and all.

Thanks everyone for looking, glad you enjoyed seeing whats happening on the other side of the world.
