Hi I was given a smokey hollow smoker and its electric. Any tips on smoking a pork butt and ribs.
 
I suggest you keep it simple. For the butts turn the heat up to 275° and cook them until the internal temp reaches 195°-205°. Then take it out of the pit and rest for 20 minutes or so before pulling. I recommend this method because you are a new BBQer with a new to you pit, learn how your pit cooks. Remember the KISS Rule.
