SmokeyOkie Method on Shoulder Clod ??

  1. Local grocery has Choice Chucks on sale. Avg weight around 22lbs. Wondering if anyone has tried the SmokeyOkie method on one of these. I've been wanting to try his method for quite awhile...has taken some time to get the nerve up to sear before smoking.

    Plan on rubbing with blk pepper, onion pwdr, garlic pwdr, cumin, paprika , kosher salt mix.

    Any suggestions appreciated

    Searing can have promising results for many cuts of meat.
    The fat dripping down is what really gets the blazing going.
    depending on the fat content you might want to try rubbing some bacon greese on it.
    I say try it out and see what happens!

    Bacon grease is a great idea. Didn't notice any fat cap on these the other day. Guess I better get to the store and pick one up.
