Smoked & Pulled BBQ Beef w/Qview

    I don't get to smoking pulled beef as much these days as I really like pulled pork. I decided to do so, for a change. I injected the beef with Au-Jus to keep it moist as I brought it up to higher temps. This worked out well. I removed the meat at 205 degrees and let it cool. I pulled it and it pulled very easy. From there I put it in the crock pot with my favorite BBQ sauce mix. 50% - 50% Sweet Baby Rays & Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper wit 3 tbsp brown sugar added. It slow cooked over night in the sauce and it was amazing. Extremely tender with just the right amount of sweet and tangy flavor from the BBQ sauce.

    End result was some great BBQ pulled beef. Something i need to do more of.
  2. What exactly did you inject it with?

    Looks great!!! My wife loves Sweet Baby Rays and Dr. Pepper, so I think I have a project!

    Looks great! [​IMG] I just have a hard time with the Dr. Pepper ingredient. I've seen that idea a few times poking around this forum, but I can't help but wonder -- can you actually taste the Dr. Pepper in the final product?

    You know it's just one of those things you have to try once. I have had allot of posative feedback on the BBQ sauce with DIet Cherry Dr. Pepper and brown sugar. I just did pulled pork last night and it's amazing on that as well.

    Try it once and you can say at least you tried it.

  7. I have used Dr. Pepper for "butt" chicken and we all loved it. It did not make the meat taste like Dr. Pepper.

    To add to this... The same goes ofr the sauce. It really adds to the seauces flavor and thins it a bit so its not a "in your face" flavor. It does a better job letting the flavor of the meat be present and just compliments it. I hope I phrased this right.

    Great video, I WILL be trying this soon with some beef roasts as I love Sweet Baby Rays with my pork butts.

  13. Great question. I use non diet Dr. Pepper or Cherry Dr. Pepper with my chickens. My wife has bad reactions to artificial sweeteners. It worked great with butt chicken.

    Good question and the answer is no. Probably better with the regular. I'm doing a low carb thing so I avoid extra sugars. Since I put a little brown sugar on the outside of the roasts I opted for diet pop. I still got a great flavor so it worked out great.

  17. Man, that looks outstanding. Did you use top or bottom round for you roast...or does it matter?
  18. I am going to use chuckys this weekend, and give this a spin.
    Dillons has chuck roasts on sale, buy one, get one free. I went to the store during my lunch break. The roasts were all in the two pound range. Well, it turns out the butcher at this store is an avid smoker. When I explained what I had in mind, he smiled and told me he would cut some meat for me. He came out with two beautiful roasts, about 4.7 pounds apiece. Nicely marbled, but he trimmed the fat from the edges. So I walked out with two great looking cuts, almost ten pounds total, for less than $18.

    OK, I have meat, Sweet Baby Rays, brown sugar, and Cherry Dr. Pepper. Saturday better hurry up and get here!!

    My guess would be that the end result using that soda would be similar to using a yellow mustard rub on a pork butt...can't really taste it in the end, but it helps improve the flavor somehow!

    FYI - I've done something similar with Cherry Coke. In the end, it doesn't really have the taste of the soda - but it DOES do something to the overall taste, that is pleasing.
