Decided that if I could do baked beans in the smoke then I could do chili in the smoker. Also had to throw some abts in. And put the cornbread in the smoker too. For the chili just browned some hamburger, added diced onion, some diced tomatoes, stewed tomatoes (we like chunky chili) a couple packets of chili seasoning along with some extra seasonings of our own, some chili beans and kidney beans. Mixed all together and put in the smoker for a couple hours. Mixed store-bought cornbread with some diced jalepeno and some honey. Abts are standard cream cheese filled and bacon wrapped. Everything was very good.

Looks great nice job

How much smoke flavor did the chili take on? I am very interested in trying this.

That looks good wutang. It was a cool rainy day here. Made me start thinking about diff chili recipes. Might just have to make a batch for the big game this weekend. GO HAWKEYES!!!

Oh man Tanger!! You arent kiddin around are you? Give the guy a smoker and see what happens. ADDICT!!

I was actually surprised at how much smokey flavor it picked up. It was not overpowering but definately noticeable. The cornbread we cooked in the smoker did not have much smokey flavor but I think that is due to a much lower amount of exposed surface area. It was not in the pics but after we took the cornbread out we put in a big loaf of garlic bread directly on the grate (no pan, no foil) and it got VERY smokey! The chili is something I would definately do again.

I am not an addict, I can quit anytime. I just choose not to.

I just mixed the ingredients as I would have normally and put it in the smoker. The temp was 230-250 and the chili was in for about 2 1/2 hours. I did stir it about every half hour so that a fresh surface could try to absorb more smoke-don't really know if that helped but it seemed like a good idea. It seemed pretty easy-instead of simmering on the stove a while it just sat in the smoker a while. I think you will like it.

I am looking forward to seeing yours. I am sure it will be good

A lot of people on this forum use a image hosting site like photobucket. I just open the images in "paint" then resave them and they are now reformatted/resized and will upload with no problem
