We already had them here in Arkansas. There are just a few left here and there now. They were great this year. Big ones.

I think around here they sell them in season for like $60 or so a pound!!! I just love the hunt and god willin some shrooms!!!

LOL cruzen, I was talking about Kennett Square, PA

Kennett Square is a borough in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is known as the Mushroom Capital of the World[1] because mushroom farming in the region produces over a million pounds of mushrooms a year. To celebrate its heritage, Kennett Square has an annual Mushroom Festival every year. Its population was 5,273 at the 2000 census.

I believe Smokin Joe was referring to another type of shroom as I have not harvested them in poo before. I was aware that MI had alot of shrooms, jealous just jealous I am.

Typically they are found in moist areas, around dying or dead Elm trees, Sycamore and Ash trees, old apple orchards and maybe even in your own back yard. Ground cover varies and it is very likely that each patch of mushrooms you come across may be growing in totally different conditions. It is a common practice of shoomer's to hit their favorite spots year after year.

I have heard of "magic"

mushrooms growing in "poo" but I have never harvested moral mushrooms in dung. I find most in forests. But that's just me, what I do know is that I don't know of every spot to get shrooms.

Well folks, I have to admit. In these parts of NE Kansas it seems to be a banner year for the spongy fungus we call "morel". Nothing like a well aged steak that you raised from a calf yourself and pile on some mushrooms right off you own land. I have no shame or pride I tell you people. I just had to break down and cook me a T-Bone with the mushrooms for breakfast this morning. It just had to be done. Problem was I was full, fell asleep and missed a chance to plant 40 acres of corn.

Just a word of caution. Be leary of the false morel ( unattached at the bottom of the cap. ) They are mostly harmless to some but I heared of a couple up in Caro where my mom had lived, that are both in wheelchairs. Don't get me wrong I love shrooms and even grew some in my closet. ****ake, portabella and just the white button mushrooms. And love to go morel huntin.
