So I know a guy that set 2 strip steaks out to thaw from the deep freeze around 530-600 last night. Vacuum seal bag. He then went to the local high school football game and forgot about them being in the sink when he got home. Then remembered them this morning around 830-900 and he put them in the fridge.
Think these will be okay to grill tonight, or do you think he ruin 2 beautiful steaks?

I know a guy who has done the same thing more than once...and lived to tell a story of a great meal every time!

Back in the olden days before refrigeration it was normal for a family to get up in the morning and eat on the leftovers from the previous nights meal...that had been sitting out since. Now, would the USDA advise this? Heck no, their safety factor is a gazillion...but "I aint skeered".

Now a days we are getting warned not to eat the Chinese rice after it sits on the counter for half an hour....lol

I felt the same and figured it would not be an issue! I told him if he doesnt grill em, I will!

Anyone over 60...I would not recommend eating the steak in question. Your immune system is not as robust as you age.......

I know a guy, that took a vacuumed sealed Rib Eye out of the freezer last night, tossed it in the sink over night, got up this morning at 8:00am and then put it in the fridge.

This guy will grill it up tonight..... no worries doing it this way on part.....or his part.

I say good to go, I do it like this alot.

If I were the one that had sealed them up and the smell test passed, I would most likely fire them up......BUT we need to keep a few things in mind. Back in the day when people would eat their leftovers left out over night. Kids played outside ( in the dirt and developed a healthier gut microbiome ), everybody ( OK maybe not everybody ) could eat peanuts, bread and drink milk with out issues. We did not have antibiotic resistant bacteria that will eat your face off and the person that cut our meat was a real Butcher. The way I look at things nowadays is what ever I paid for what ever I have question about is, would I pay that much to not be on my knees with my arms wrapped around the porcelain alter?
