Hello everyone,

I just bought my first smoker and I am excited to embark on my journey.

I bought a Red Stone Offset smoker from Tractor Supply.  Not the best money can buy but on my budget its about the best mine could do.  I am interested to see if anyone else has ever used one of these and knows what kind of mods to do to them to make them seal up and cook at constant temps for extended periods.

I am a big time griller but this is my first smoker.  I have played around with 30+ thousand dollar grills with smoke boxes on them but I know this is a whole new world here.

I have watched several videos on what people have done to smokers like this but would like some expert advice.

Thank you all and cant wait to get it together and rolling.

Welcome to the forums.  That looks like a nice smoker, I had one like it when I started out as well.  I never did any mods to mine though as I started upgrading to quickly and mine was a cheaper Walmart brand that was really thin.  I also hadn't found this resource yet to try and find ways to modify it.

Welcome to the forums!  Glad you've joined us.  You've found a great place to learn and share ideas on our favorite pastimes...grilling, smoking, and curing great food!  There are lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here who really enjoy helping one another.  Just ask any time you need help and you'll get plenty!

I don't know anything about your smoker...is it similar to those Char-Griller Duo gas griller/smoker combos?  If you spend a little time browsing over in the charcoal smoker forum, you'll surely find some good info on mods.

Good luck!
