hey how do you all store your probes when not in sue? I wrap the cord around the unit but I think that broke my last one some how so I was wondering if you guys have a better way?
I unplug the probe from the unit, loop the cord loosely and put them in a zip loc bag.

On Edit: I also keep the units in a Ziploc bag. All the stuff (tongs for charcoal, gloves, blocks of wood for the probes to go through, little spray bottles, etc) is in a 5 gallon plastic bucket in the garage when not in use.
Ditto for me. I use freezer strength 1 qt. bags. I also keep the manual in with the unit so it's handy. I will also keep the reciever inside a bag when in use outdoors on inclement days.
Mine is still attached to the side of the smoker (with the batteries taken out and stored inside). I did take the probe and clean it, of course, but then threaded it back through the smoker and reconnected it to the main unit. This way I always know where it is.
Never thought of taking a shot of the therms at rest?
I place mine on the Fridge in the garage(magnet), and simply hang the wire over the top of the body , drapping downward. I've had three different (cheap) probe therms. for 2 yrs. now and they are still going.Luck maybe, but neither of them cost over $15. Polder,Accurite,ect.
I do take the batteries out and put them in the fridge.
I'll send a shot when I get my big Arse up and go outside.
Meanwhile have fun and.

thanks guys I'm on my second one in 6 months I think i am wrapping them to tight and the wire inside of the casing is braking. I'm to sure of that but that would be my best guess of why this is happening.
Gotta keep em clean.Put it back where it belongs,don't stick it where it don't belong,wash up after each use,cover it when necessary,don't handle it unless you are using it,and use it for ONLY what it was inteded for;
Hmmmmm, that sounds familiar
I keep my Maverick in a Crown Royal Special Reserve Bag. Probes wrapped around the unit stored above the frig. My charcoal, chimmney,wood chunks, newspaper etc. in a large Rubbermaid container in the garage.
