Been lurking on the forum for some time now and decided I should make a Roll Call post.

I'm living in the New Orleans area [here would be the obligatory 'Go Saints', but I am a Cowboys fan, sorry] and am currently in an apartment complex without access to a yard or a porch to run any grill or smoker.

I am indeed fat, bald, and a guy, although my wife thinks I am not really fat.  She does think I am bald and I hope she thinks I am a guy.

I do enjoy reading threads here on the site and look forward to moving to a place where I can join in the fun.  [We currently look after my 72 year old dad, who is not in really good health, so we picked a place to live with very little upkeep, as we do spend a lot of time taking care of him.]

I may well try to get to the southern LA gathering being held this October.

Thanks for all the great stories and wonderful tips that keep my imagination fueled.

First off welcome Bald Fat Guy to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/list/127

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

 http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/82034/how-to-post-qview-to-smf

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again

Welcome to Your New Addiction

Glad to have you here FBG. Glad that SMF can fuel you imagination. Hope you will soon get the chance to lay some thing blue to a hunk of meat soon!

Welcome to SMF glad you decided to join in. The Gathering in October should be good hope to see you there.

Glad to have you as part of the SMF famly. There are so many friendly folks here, and they enjoy sharing good times with everyone. It's all good my friend.

Sorry to hear you are a Cowboy FAN but it takes all kinds...LOL

Good having you here...

By the way you can "smoke" on the range if you get the pan with a lid and a rack inside. You put chips in and the rack and the meat... Does will, no where as good as out doors but it will make the apart. smell good and work kinda good for meat.

Well enjoy while you are a looker and hope you find a good place to get the grill/smoker out and do it for real.

Welcome to the SMF forum FBG.  Hopefully you will be able to change your situation soon & jump feet first into the world of smoking.  At least you have a start by joining the community here.  Enjoy the qview, information & stories & um....that cowboy thing......hmmmmmmm.  My two favorite teams are the Kansas City Chiefs & whoever plays against the Cowboys.  Ha!!  ( Although I might have to add the Seahawks to my list since they have my old Trojan coach.)

Have fun man!

Hiya FBG,

Welcome to the world of smoke!

My DIL is from Big D and is a rabid cowboys fan. Me I'm up here in baton Rouge and am a lonley packers fan.LOL

Try the stove top smoker if you have a hood vent on your stove. It works ok on smaller cuts of meat and fairly well on chicken.

Glad to have you aboard and hope to see you at the south Louisiana gathering.
