Points?

Excuse my ignorance but, what are the points I see in my "usercp"? Did I say something I wasn't suppose too?

Points are given when earned for a good job, creativity ETC. I am pretty sure I gave you some and left a short message with my name also.

That is a good sign you are doing something right.

Points are a good thing, you can ignore them with ease. It doesn't really matter very much. They are kind of like apat on the back or an atta boy the boss gives out every once in a rare while. 10 atta boys are worth 1 Oh! good Fellow. 1000 Oh! Good Fellows are worth a 10 cents off coupon to Mc donalds with last weeks expirery date on it.

I may have given you those for something you said or did that I enjoyed here on SMF. The name of the giver will be there beside the points in your user cp, and usually a short note to say why you got the points.

They are a way for us to give someone a pat on the back, usually but by no means limited to qview , great post or some other such reason.

When you see something you like, get great advice, or otherwise want to express your gratitude, you can give points. If you click on the scale icon at the top of someone's post, it says add to reputation (you are giving "reputation" points). It allows you to write a short note, and gives the person a point. Enough points equals a green reputation tile, and thus you can see how reputable the person posting is...YMMV, batteries not included.

I've been here almost a year and a half and didn't know this. I'm feeling real stupid right now. There's been -a lot- of help from here and -a lot- of nice lookin smokes I've seen here.

As long as the comments have a little green box next to em, they are commending you and saying good job. If the comment has a little red box next to it, they took points away and hopefully explain why.

Points to me is the way that I can show you that I think you are doing a good job or that you came up with something really outside the box for me. So differant folks have their own reasons for and how you earn points and that mine.

When I go to my user cp I dont see any reputation things anywhere? When I click on the rep thing in one of my posts it says I have 10 rep points, why cant I see reps given to me.

I just went to my c.p. and its in middle of that page with the quotes/compliments etc...


Not sure if you have somehow disabled it....
