Can someone recommend a smoker that goes to 400F without pellets?

So my first try, I had a masterbuilt smoker that would only go to 275F.
It had a heating element, so I assumed all smokers worked the same.

Today I purchased a pit boss 7 series copper edition, and looks like it runs on pellets...dang I'm screwed, can't use it for powdercoating, cuz it won't heat without the pellets. Obviously I can powdercoat with smoke, or at least so I think.

I thought I'd ask here before doing anything else so I don't make another blunder!

I guess at least I have a smoker for food now, only paid $200 CAD for it and apparently it retails for over 1000

The regular stove oven is too small I find, that's why I wanted to go with a smoker.
I would like to avoid propane or gas etc and just stay electric.
There's an older version of masterbuilt that some use, but they're harder to find and need to be taken apart to add insulation. And it doesn't have a glass door.

Looking at pit boss 3 series, vs the 7 series I got, seems like 3 series actually has the heating element, compared to 7 series, that heats up using these pellets?
Seems like I should've gone with 3 series...

Auber PID + anything electric. If it has controller, mod it for power only. Heads up the insulation in most smokers is not really designed for higher temps.

Yes I'm afraid it will introduce another problem, like melting insulation.

Maybe I can powdercoat with pellets lol, not sure if it would cause any issue. It doesn't seem to make much smoke, so maybe it can work?

Have you looked at gravity feed ?

Masterbuilt makes a series of GFs that will easily hit 400.

I have a cabinet GF made by Assassin, but I've never tried to get it to 400. Highest I've had it is 350.

Just looked them up but they seem to be pretty small and look like grills. Legs take a lot of room but inside seems small compared to a vertical smoker.

Yes, the MB series is marketed as a combo smoker/grill.

The Old Country Gravity Feed might be more of what you're looking for

I think that'd be too expensive and too big.
I think so far the best looking ones pit boss 3 and this masterbuilt one
