A Holler in North Iowa
Was a warm day here compared ta lately. Boys an I wen't out ta a friends farm an did a bit a shootin.

Got ta play with my new revolver. Fired bout 75+ rounds a .38 Special which was fun an bout 35+ rounds a .357 Mag. Well it's fun shootin them .38's but boy is the .357's even more fun!

She's got a wicked bark when ya pull the trigger on them .357's. Was gettin dialed in there towards the end. Got my groups down ta 3-4 inchers. Some more practice an they should tighten up even better.

Gonna diffentely have ta start reloadin though. 15 bucks a box was the cheapest .38's I can get round here. Think I'll work on settin up the reloadin shop tammarraw.

Boy I hear ya about the ammo. It's crazy. I have a Kimber Pro Raptor II on order. I'm getting ammo a little here and there while I wait on it. That .45ACP is about 20 dollars a box, minimum!! I want to have plenty of practice ammo before I qualify with it. I'm salavating waiting for it to arrive!!!

The wife and I went to the range yesterday and shot our Glock 27 and our Taurus Millenium Pro .40 I keep the Taurus in the safe so I like to make sure she keeps on on how to handle it if needed.

Got a Taurus model 65 with a 4" barrel/blued buzz. Made fer a fine Christmas present! Wanna get some time on it before I gotta qualify with it. Shouldn't have much trouble right now, but hey, ya gotta practice all the time right?

Send some Q-view of your toys.
Reloading is fun ,and with the right set-up(RCBS or equivalent),you can Trim,shape,cut,de-bur and load at the power you want. The Brass is cheap, the powder -not bad-;but the total savings for an active shooter is tremendous.
We may need this kind of stuff in a couple of years

Ammo around here is A LOT better than it was 6-12 months ago.

The Obama scare is dieing off and the shelves are being restocked.

I have a Springfield XD .45 and it was downright brutal looking for ammo a year ago.

I would love an S&W 686 .357

If you want to have some fun, and practice control load the 357 up with 38 wadcutters, then place one full magnum round in it. We did this when I worked in law enforcement years ago when we were carrying revolvers.

Brand new to the forum but good to see some shooters involved, I shoot a LOT, am active in Cowboy Action Shooting, Varmint shooting and hunting, could never afford it if I didn't reload.

Nice to hear your out using your new toy Tip. I had one of those some years ago and your right, they have a bit of recoil in the 4" barrel. Your groups sound good to me, a center mass shot with that baby will do its job, that's for sure.

What distance do you shoot at? I don't normally shoot my Springfield XD subcompact (9mm) any more than ten yards. No need to long range shoot with a defensive weapon.

I got the wifie a S&W double action .38 for xmas havn't made it to the range yet to she how she shoots it. But i love my glock 23 for everyday carring and "The Judge" for those times when u need it.

Glad to hear you enjoy that .357, I own three of 'em. I've been reloading for about 20 yrs. Saves lots of bucks & has a degree of fun in it too.
If you really want a kick you should try one of my .44 magnums or even my .480 Ruger.
