Pink Salt for Bacon

    I am new to smoking. Would like to try making my own bacon. Most recipes call for pink salt to be added to the curing mixture. Is pink salt absolutely necessary, or can bacon be safely made without it?

    The "pink salt" they are talking about is Instacure #1 and while you can use other curing products such as Tender Quick the bacon needs to be cured before being cold smoked

    Listen to jerry he knows bacon and he's does a bacon good
