The weather man finally got it right. Said it was gonna snow and mother nature delivered. Decided it would be a fine day for chili. I always enjoy reading others chili recipes and trying new ingredients, so I figured I'd share mine.

1- 29oz can tomato sauce
1- 15oz can tomato sauce
1- can fire roasted diced tomatoes
2- cans dark red kidney beans
1- can corn
1- can cut green beans
1-yellow onion (sautéed)
1- green bell pepper (sautéed)
1- garlic ( minced) or 1-2 tbsp minced garlic.
1/4 cup brown sugar
1-cup or 2- 4oz can of diced green chili's
1.5 lbs ground pork sausage, ground beef or ground venison (Browned)
Seasoning:
2-tbsp flour
2- tbsp sugar
1- tbsp garlic salt or powder
1- tbsp onion salt or powder
1- tbsp basil
2- tbsp Cumin
2- tbsp chili powder
I generally add about a 1/4 cup of my favorite bbq sauce and a few dashes of worcestershire sauce.
Bring to a quick boil, then simmer on low all day, stir often. When pot is nice and warm I add a dried chili from the ristra ( usually a Sandia chili) & then my little twist 2-3 tbsp of grape jelly, if you add more spicy to your pot it makes for a nice, sweet heat profile.

Oh man. I just can't wrap my head around snow yet. I'm still mourning Summer.
Good looking chili, though. Never thought of using green beans or corn.

Definitely wasn't ready this year, thanks

Always interesting to see the various takes on chili people have and yours has several things I wouldn't have thought of. So many folks have an "its just not chili if or unless" thing.

And there's that cinnamon roll! Another "huh?" I came away with after my "do you put toppings on your chili?" thread.

What...no peanut butter?:emoji_laughing:

Every time I think it's going to cool down, the temps are back in the 80s. But at least it's not in the 90s. It'll be chili time soon...
Looks great . Interesting mix . I sometimes use hominy in mine .
Nice work !
As Rich said, that is an interesting mix, but I'd definitely eat it...

When I was a kid in grade school (mid-late 60's), Wednesday was chili day in the lunchroom, and they would always accompany it with a fresh baked cinnamon roll. Everything was made in-house by scratch back then. Friday was creamed turkey over mashed potatoes, and a maple bar came with that. It was also "all you can eat" for 35 cents. Miss those days.

Chili weather here too … the low may get into the low 50’s … may need long pants to golf. 🤪

Some of the scratch made school meals are still comfort food. Minestrone soup is still my favorite. Sure beat that frozen processed crap they serve these days.

I’ve tried, but cannot replicate the killer peanut butter sauce topped the Dixie cup ice cream. The Friendly’s is close, but not as good.

I wish we were in golf weather, it's been snow for 4 days straight here, supposed to go all day Saturday too.

Im not sure on the grape jelly either I would try it just don’t think I will make it, but I’m that way with goat
You don't really taste it just adds some sweet to the heat.
