Hello all,

My wife and I were out to eat over the weekend. She ordered a pecan pulled pork sandwich. This was not from a BBQ joint, more of a bar/grill type place. I must admit it one of the better pulled pork sammy's I have eaten. The meat had a pecan type flavor to it. Does this come just from using pecan wood/pellets to smoke or would one use some type of pecan rub during/after the cook? I am trying to replicate this for us in the home.

Thanks for any help

John Henry's Pecan rub is a good one as well.

I also use a lot of Pecan wood, definitely one of my favorites.

I use pecan shell pellets/dust in my Amazen tubes. While it doesn't add pecan flavor to food it does provide an excellent smoke profile which has become my favorite.

Thanks for the replies. I will pick up a shaker or 2 and try them out in the near future.

Agree with the others …. It’s my go-to wood for chicken and fish

And FYI, the Deez Nuts has about half the salt of most of the other Meat Church offerings.

Yeah, I pretty much stopped using any commercial rubs, way too much salt for me
