I made a new firebox door for my SnP to better accomodate the Afterburner gas connection. I painted it with Krylon BBQ and Stove paint. It doesn't say much on the can about curing the paint other than "the painted item will smoke the first time it is heated up so use in a well ventilated area".

What is the best way to go about curing the paint? Should I do a normal seasoning run of about 250 for an hour then 350-400 for a couple of hours?

Thanks.

Dave

I did some PM's on my SnP that included painting (exterior only) areas on it with the same paint you have. I let it air dry that afternoon and smoked a roast the next day with no probs. There was no smoking from the new paint and I couldn't smell anything coming off the areas that I had painted. Unless you are painting inside it, I wouldn't think there would be any issues for you.

The only inside part that got painted was the inside of the firebox door. So I guess it shouldn't be much of a problem. Will probably do some short dry runs in tinkering with the burner anyway so I imagine that should take care of it.

Thanks.
