Ok, getting ready to season my new Oklahoma Joe smoker and today I cleaned the inside. In the process I found some things I don't understand. I have enclosed some photos of these below.

First, what looks like spare hinges on the smoker lid and the firebox lid:

This one is of a small hole on the smoker chamber above and next to the fire chamber. On the smoke chamber just above the fire chamber in the picture above.

Thanks for any help!!

I believe they are just "stops" for the lids when open.

Here's a fun site that sells both replacement parts as well as upgrades.

Your absolutely right, that's exactly what they are. Thanks.

OK think I might know what the bottom photo is. I may be an access point for temp probes?

Yes, that's what the bottom photo is; an access to pass wired temp probes through. My OKJ was made before they started adding them but my Camp Chef pellet grill has one.

I have a new Oklahoma joe highland. I've cooked a few times on it. Having heat distribution issues and I'm not the welder. Have anyone gotten a tuning plate already built for this grill and how does it work.

Mine was a reverse flow model so I can't help with plates as mine came with one.
one small tip I found useful because I thought the charcoal basket was a pain .
FWIW i set my basket aside and bought a rectangular grill grate that would fit inside the fire box. if you set it inside the box with one side toward the front and the other side placed up on the back of the firebox (slanted down) you can dump a chimney of lit coals in the firebox. Once temp is regulated you can the add splits horizontally on top of the coals from the side door.
Makes adding splits easier and not stood up on end (in the basket). I decided to re-home my OK Joe because I'm old and grumpy and wasn't up to tending fires in S Florida heat (especially multi-hour brisket cooks). plus getting quality wood splits in S Florida was also a pain except expensive bundles of hickory splits from home depot.
