So... At the strore tonight. Cardboard box . 10 lbs of spare ribs was the label... 1.50 a pound.... 15 bucks, Ill bite..

Open the box at home. short racks and skinny sections of rib . Odds and ends. Anyone have any experience with this kind of box-o-ribs? Im guessing cook time will be shorter. Gonna make it work one way or the other I guess.

I have gotten $1.50/# cheap ribs and they were the toughest meat ever to cook.
Try a couple of pieces in your normal method and see what happens.
If all else fails, smoke for some aroma/flavor and put in a tomato/ BBQ sauce to finish in the oven at 350°. Yeah fall off the bone (FOTB) but very tender.

I've bought the "cheapo" ribs in the past.I smoked them for a bit and just finished in a covered foil pan with some liquid. The brazing makes them FOTB like Fueling Around Fueling Around said but they were tender and had decent enough flavor.

They turned out fine. They were different widths and lengths so thy finished differently. One was extra long so I had some burnt chunks on the end of that one from hanging. The short scraps went in the crockpot on high for a mid day snack. I wouldnt make this for guests. But for Hanging out and having some Q on the weekend...just fine.

I might try cutting theses into individual bones and smoking that way as an appetizer, riblet kind of thing.

I did those wonky ribs, and hot dog burnt ends for playoff football Saturday... So classy!
