newbie on the site trying to learn

Hello to SMF!  I just finished building a "small" home smokehouse for cold smoking.  Though since I live in southwest Louisiana, it will mostly used in our winter time, Jamuary and part of February :).  For instance today, it was 95 with heat index of about 105.  One would need and AC to attempt cold smoking.  I plan on using the A-Maze-N smoke unit to keep the heat down.  I hope to learn how to smoke the way Grandpa did 50 years ago.

Check out the search bar at the  top of the page....  type in what you are looking for and a wealth of information will pop up...   If you would like to put your location in your profile, it will help folks later answer questions you may have that relate to temp, humidity and altitude.....   Enjoy the long smokey ride..

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a Kindle Fire, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Welcome to the forums!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Just ask when you need anything, and someone here will surely have the answer.
