Hello all - New smoker here from TN.  My wife picked up a 30" Masterbuilt JMSS 800-Watt Electric Vertical Smokerfor me for my birthday (isn't she great!), and I can't wait to get started.  I got it 'seasoned' as per the manufacture, and I plan on taking it on the Maiden voyage tonight for NYE snacks (chicken wings).  Also picked up (2) whole chickens to smoke on Saturday.  I've already read many articles, so I can appreciate the community here.  Any advice is appreciated!

Happy New Year!

Welcome from SC. This is a great site with lots of really good folks who are always eager to share their ideas and tips. All you have to do is ask and keep reading. IMO, the chickens is a great way to get started. I like to spatchcock mine and I know other folks who also say that they will never smoke another one whole I have even switched over to spatching my turkeys. They cook quicker and more evenly. Check out the search bar above and you can get a lot of information on smoking a spatchcocked chicken.

Good luck with your new cooker and good smokin', Joe
