Hi all, This is such an amazing resource you have going on here. I knew I needed help after my first attempt at smoking turned out to be a disaster. With a little research on the forum my next try came out much better, but there is still room for improvement. I was given a GOSM charcoal smoker as a gift so if there are any hints related to this smoker they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Welcome, welcome! Glad you are here!! This is the place to ask questions, search for recipes, etc. The friendly folks here at SMF will make answer to your questions.

A little more details on your "disaster" would help us to help.

BTW, in what part of New York are you located??

Take care, have fun, and do good!

Regards,

Meowey

Welcome to SMF, Bif. Don't think of it as a disaster, keep it positive-think of it as "research in need of improvement". Some of the old timers here learned by trial and error, others, like you, get to "tap the well of knowledge" as it were. So like meowey said, "this is the place to ask questions". One of the things to take advantage of is Tulsa Jeff's 5-day eCourse. Lots of good infor there to help you get started right. Also, check out the "Charcoal Burners" forum. Lot of use the GOSM, but for the most part they are the porpane units.

Enjoy!

Welcome Bif! I'm from Long Island as well. Lindenhurst. Whereabouts are you located?

I have only been smoking a short time now, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help from this forum and the people on it. If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to ask!
