Curious what folks are making/smoking for NEw Years Eve or New Years Day.

New Years Eve:

I have to work a halfday tomorrow, so no smoking for NYE. I will spend the day picking up the live & frozen seafood I need for a crab steamer I am doing. I am going to do a few pounds(4#) of snow crab legs, also going in the pot is either some live blue crabs, live dungeness crab, or live lobster. Blue crabs are the first choice, just hoping some are left when I get off work. Also going in the pot are heads of garlic, red potatoes, and kilbasa. Depending on the availability of fresh clams, a pot of clam chowder will also be made

For New Years Day, I am going to the market in a few minutes to look at pork butts, and bb ribs, and will do one or the other. If its ribs I will also get some chicken wings to do. Also going to be gathering ingredients for some ABT's to entere tin theis months SMF throwdown.

Should be a couple days of cookin', smokin', drinkin' & feasting

slainte.

Smoking a brisket for a big pot of chili. The point will be sacrificed as burnt ends - I'll have to suffer through those.

I am holding out untill the weekend for my spread... I have to work Thursday night-sat night at the club so I am planning my feast for Sunday... I have a leg of lamb that I am conjuring up. Gotta do some ABT's to go with it as well!

ABT's to go to a Sugar Bowl party, Out with a ton of friends on New Years. so no chance that day, as also have to work untill 4. May do a pork loin on Sun.

Right now, it looks like a smoke-grilled aged porterhouse is the main course. Likely accompanied by artichokes, salad, and a nice old Bordeaux.

nice sounding meals.

Just got back from the market, grabbed up a 5.5 lb bone in butt ($1.39/lb). And also a 2-pack of BB ribs ($2.99/lb). Might do both on New Years day.

Also grabbed up some Green cabbage & red cabbage to knock out some slaw.

tomorrow I will have to gather the seafood I need.

We're doing an 18 lb turkey (splitting it in half) abts, portobello mushrooms, acorn and yellow squash (in the fire box). I'm going to fire up the offset for this one using oak and cherry wood.

sounds darn good rick,

hopefully the weather works out for firing up the offset.

Happy NEw Year.

Got Christmas off so I gotta work New Years. We have 2 families that are coming to celebrate NYE with us. Speaking with Mama Bear, she tells me we're doing surf and turf. I'm grilling prime rib steaks and she's boiling crab legs and lobsters. I think I might do some ABTs as well.
Happy New Years everyone.

nice, cant beat those fresh shrimp.

We here in Bolongatown P.A. have the traditional Pennsylvania Dutch Tradition of having Pork roast and sauerkraut for New years day. Well it's supposed to bring you good luck and fortune for the new year. It never seems to work for me, as I am as broke as usual, so I think were going to modify our tradition by smoking two 8 lb pork butts, and instead of sauerkraut, we are having home made cole slaw. May be that will bring me better luck. At least I know I will be popular with the guests that night. Maybe I can learn to pick pocket by then. That is probally the only way I will get rich. Oh come to think of it, with my luck I would probally get caught in the act.
Any how Happy New Year To All and lets hope it will be a better year than the past.

Tomorrow night it will just be me and the missus. I never had much enthusiasm for Amateur Night. Well be having smoked boudin, various cheeses and crackers. A bunch of cut raw veggies and sour cream/onion dip. There's already a J.P. Cheney blanc de blancs brut chilling. I was thinking about a smoked chicken liver pate' as well. We will just sit around all evening snacking instead of having a meal.

For New Year's it's pretty much Southern good luck food. Pulled pork, collards, black eyed peas, cabbage, and corn bread. Just like Hounds51, I could use a little good luck and there's no sense in not trying! Friends and family will be dropping in and out all day long and that's about as good luck as you can get.
