New to the site

Hello all. I just received a smoker for christmas and have never smoked anything before. I was surfing Floridasportsman.com when a moderator mentioned this site. Boy am I glad I found ya'll. I look forward to learning from the seasoned veterans.

A little about me: I'm originally from Illinois, moved to Port Charlotte 8 yrs ago. I currently bartend at a local restaurant on the water while attending school at FGCU in Ft Myers where I am 3 semesters away from getting my degree in accounting. I also just got engaged recently to the most amazing woman I have ever known.

I almost forgot, I just receved a Brinkman electric smoker that I plan to put to good use.

Read the directions on the smoker and see if it tells you to season the smoker before the first smoke..
Also if you don't already have one, pick up a digital thermometer with the meat probe. These things are a REAL big help when smoking. I have 3 of them now to help me with my smokes.
