Hello from southeast Michigan. I've been smoking meat since I was 21 and this year is the big (for me) 30!! I live on a farm and raise pretty much everything I eat. Unfortunately I still have to keep an off the farm job to help pay the bills. Here's my little smoker

I've smoked on every kind of smoker there is, and want people to know that you can make all of them work it just takes time and adjustments. DONT BE AFRAID OF MAKING CRAPPY MEAT. You will learn!!! I'm going to be building a new RF smoker that will be mounted on a trailer but spring is my busiest time of year so hopefully I will have the rest of the supplies by June and have it done by July.

Welcome to the board! Check out the smoker builds section for advice.

Sheep farming, huh? I can hear the rosemary rattling in my spice cabinet, just at the thought of it.

Good evening and welcome to the forum, from a cloudy and warm day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Welcome to the forum! You'll find a lot of nice folks here who are always willing to help if you need it. And there are a lot of us who can benefit from your experience as well. Post pics of your smokes so we can enjoy them along with you. Happy smokin', David.

Welcome to the forum from Lansing Sheep-rancher.  And what a great forum it is to learn the art of smoking everything.

We have a Michigan group here.  http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/groups/show/27/michigan-members-group

If you get a chance check it out and please join if you have not done so yet.

We have a yearly get together and I hope you can make it this year.  We also have occasional cheese smokes here or there so if you can join in please do.

It’s always nice to see another Michigander here.

Stan
