Hi all,
Here’s a few pictures of my offset smoker I built, utilizing recycled metal, mainly. The smoker body was leaking rusty water tank from a concrete truck, the 1/4” boiler plate, 6” pipe and some angle iron came from a scrap metal shop ( connections connections) lol
I purchased new temp gauges, expanded metal, square tubing for the trays, plus banding to trim the doors, leaf springs for the trailer plus nuts and bolts, this whole project cost me approximately $400.
I was fortunate to utilize a maintenance shop at a facility I worked for, where I did most of the heavy cutting, boiler plate, stacks etc…. Free of charge. All the small cutting, fitting and welding was done in my garage.
Disclaimer: I’m not a welder/fabricator but worked closely to the maintenance folks for over 40 years, asking questions, observing and listening helped me challenging my skills, which I passed to my two teenage boys, they soaked it well and helped around, welding a few pieces themselves!
