Smoking my first pork butt today and here it is 2 hours into the smoke.
Looks good, what temps are you using for cooking?
Looks like a great start
Smoker is running about 235 right now but has gone up and down from 220 - 250.
Lookin good! Them temps will be fine, Mine verys some, but since I added them bricks ta the smoker, they have leveld out nicely an recover quickly.

Here it is after 5 hours.
LOOKIN' GOOD !!! That probe may might be needed moved to a thicker part of the meat though. But wait for more opinions before you do
I think you might be right. I took my instant read out to the smoker and checked another portion of the butt and it read 141 whole the digital read 161.
Thanks for the tip and I went ahead and move the probe.
looking real good keep it up!! moving the probe a good idea,usually put it in the thickest part of the meat.
Just foiled the butt. Sorry I forgot to take pictures before hand but there was a nice layer of bark on it.
I will make sure to take pictures when I get ready to pull.
I'll second moving it to the thicker part. I usually probe it in at least one other area before pulling to foil just in case I was in fat. I once did one and pulled it at 165 foiled it put the thermometer back in to get a reading of 147 after checking a couple other areas figured I must of been in some fat the first time

Just pulled it out of the smoker and it resting before the feast.

Our just hit 200* and is resting comfortably for now... hope it looks that nice when it's unwrapped!
Very nice lookin pork. I bet that bone just about fell right out.
Lots of folks smokin their first butts today, what a great day for virgin butt smokers on SMF. I hope they all turn out as good as the one you just showed us!
