Started my first butt on the smoker this AM. Brined it for 12 hours Thurday night, wrapped it and put it in the fridge until Friday night when I rubbed it and put it back in the fridge, this morning I got it back out added a little more rub got the grill up and going and put it on about 8 AM.

I am also going to do a couple of beer can chickens later today.

Here is a pic of my butt, more to come.

Keep the pics coming. I'm doing a butt today also, and will try to post pics later. Maybe we'll have duelling butts!!

I think I forgot to mention that we are doing a couple of dozen ABTs today as well. Should be some fine dining tonight.

PS Just foiled my ribs using the 2-2-1 method (baby backs). Pics coming in about 2 hours.

Great work! I agree that if you are truly a beginner, you are most astute. Your results look outstanding.

Also, I agree with your assessment of Soflaquer's finishing sauce. Since he posted the recipe and I tried it, I have made it a standard application on all my butts. Keep up the good work and thanks for the great pictures. One more thing, if you like the finishing sauce, try Soflaquer's chili verde recipe.
