Greetings All! After spending the weekend with the Smokin' Scotsmen and meeting some of you, I figured it was high time that I quit lurking and finally introduce myself.

I am Wulfie (known to most as "Joe"). I have been playing around with bbq for years now (using a Charbroil Electric H2O smoker and going indirect on a gas grill with a wood chip box) and have been wanting to get into the competition side. After seeing how seemingly easy and inexpensive the UDS's were (compared to the homebuilt version of a Lang-clone that I have wanted to do for too long of a time now), I decided, with the support of my fiance', to take the step forward. I contacted Tonto and Bud through another message board's "mentorship program" thread and the Scotsmen agreed to take me onboard this year and show me the ropes. After this weekend's practice cook in Eagle, I am beyond hooked! Look for me tagging along behind the Scotsmen this year, I'll be the one who looks like their head is going to explode from trying to absorb too much information and wearing the "pit beotch" title as a badge of honor!!

Welcome to the forum.

LOL... you could not have picked better mentors. I am in awe of their BBQ prowess in ALL phases of the "sport"? Almost seems like a sport at 4 AM, eh? heh!

Enjoy!

Joe, welcome to the SMF. You're among some of the best folks who happen to enjoy smokin, grillin', and the great outdoors.
