Hey all, I have a ET-73 Thermo... love it.... has been super till last smoke... Notice smoker probe read about 20deg dif than the other thermos. then noticed the meat probe read unusually higher than expected....after pluggin in the old menards special,I found it trully was off. switched the probes they read the same per probe. so I only assume the probes are bad.... now for the kicker....I finally read the instructions that tell you not to sumerse in water... ding ding, idiot alert, That is all iv done basically for cleaning. guessin i ruined the probes?? anyone else have thisprob or want to take a stab at my issue other than being the guy who acts like he doesnt need instructions... dang wife might be right once

you can submerse the probe in water, just not the cnnection where the probe and wire meet. Big no no.

Hey fire, call em and they will send you out new ones, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Dont have to send them anything. Allow a week or so for delivery but I just did this and those folks at Maverick are 1 of a kind. I got the number off the instructions (that i havent read either

).

Good luck

I also learned the hard way. it was not my ET-73 but the one it replaced. Now I read the instruction first, well at least some of the times.

Fireguy...If it is water getting in them there should be no long term damage if you can dry them out. I'd try drying them out in the oven at 300 for a bit to get the water out of them. Worth a try.

I'm not sure what you meant by plugging/swithching probes, if the probe you switched it with is a different type it would read 20 off. I have two polder thermos (one a new model)that have probes that look the same, but cannot be changed. If the probes are swapped I see a 20 difference. The new model is a different type TC than the old.

I know its been awhile .... but I finally called maverick.... they are sending me 2 new probes,, no questions asked.... Kudos maverick... will buy from them again ..... for sure...
