I have two products from Sunterra. They are a US company but they are actually built in Mexico. Both my new offset smoker and my Santa Maria grill are very top quality and should last for decades. They are on the pricier side but that is because they were built to last. They both have tolerances that the cheaper thin metal smokers could never come close to.

After years of buying throw away BBQ items I grew tired of that and just saved up to buy my last ones.

In case anyone was wondering about yoder

Nothing wrong with wanting an American made smoker. Also nothing wrong with him having wants and values that don’t align with yours. That’s the problem with everyone today. People think their opinions are more important than anyone else’s! Since you didn’t have any advice on American made smokers you probably should have just skipped commenting altogether but I imagine that’s hard for people like you who instead look to tear someone else down.

Also you are the one with failed logic if you think supporting big restaurant chains is the most American thing you can do when historically the CEO’s make wild amounts of money while paying their employees Pennie’s! Then they pay an unfair amount of taxes using loopholes that keep them rich while the rest of us have to pick up the slack and pay our fair share. As far as mom and pops they are generally going above and beyond with real wages for their employees and much better food often with far less tax loopholes than the big guys. I’ll leave you be because this isn’t what this forum is for. But I will point out your comment isn’t what this forum is for either. Go to Reddit or facebook for that shit and keep on being miserable and spreading misinformation!
Perfectly said. Thank you. That came way out of left field and twisted.

The whole USA company and built elsewhere is not really what I am looking for.

In terms of your last statement that's where I'm kind of at. Its a hard pill to swallow for a 2300+ smoker, so I was hoping to find something on the lower end. More and more I look though it seems like the good USA made ones are all really solid choices and all 1800+. I'm kind of leaning towards just saving for the Yoder. It has a really good reputation and seems like it will last damn near forever.
Thanks for sharing your experience though!

Blazn grills are proudly crafted in the USA. I have the Grid Iron. Solid unit.

Smokin Brothers makes one, but I know nothing about them.

Lone Star Grillz makes some, but similar cost to Yoder.

For an economy model, the China made Green Mountain Daniel Boone is hard to beat. I have one for a backup cooker, or for when needed.
I looked at the Blazn grills when I was looking at pellet smokers... they are impressive! Ended up going with a Green Mountain Grill, which the Daniel Boone is now called Peak. Partially the price and secondly I could drive 15 miles and pick it up. Been real happy with it.

GMG is hard to beat for the price point. My auger just went out on my Blazn after ten years, and I haven't had time to look at it. I used my GMG backup for smoking a 14 lb. turkey for Thanksgiving, and it turned out great. I thought the family was going to eat the bones.
