Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend!

I am looking to smoke a small picnic ham. I want something easy that is already cured. I need to get a little more practice; I have to get my temps right and get the hang of my new Maverick ET-73.

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to do this? Would using Jeff's rub be a good idea for something like this or do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks, AGAIN!

Hey, Mom's pretty much got ya' covered on process. On meat though, if you're wanting to learn on the cheap, look for a pinic shoulder roast instead of a ham. It's a ton cheaper, and in my humble opinion, has far better flavor. It will take longer to smoke, but is very forgiving on temperature.

    Thanks so much guys!!

Here's what I'm looking to do and maybe I'm on the wrong path. Maybe I could do just a pre-cooked ham.

I'm looking for something kinda simple, like a 4 hour smoke. As you guys have seen, I need like a remedial smoking class!

    Any suggestions?

I'm with Geek on the shoulders that's why you see it on my site. IMHO when brined they even make a great mini ham!

For a quick smoke I'd go with chicken or turkey parts or whole!
