And with the heads on, now that's fresh. So, what is the general opinion / perspective between boiling and steaming?

When I steam I use a basket insert and basically the same seasonings just not as much liquid. The lemons, corn and sausage goes in first, then potatoes, and finally the shrimp... and I kill the heat after a minute or two and do a small dump of seasoning.
I have never steamed shrimp in my entire life....always boiled.

That looks fantastic!

I don't know why shrimp and scallops are on sale so much the past few months but I'm not going to question it and I'm just going to eat it like you are doing hahahaha.

I just grilled up 2 pounds of big scallops today and ate some shrimp yesterday.
I have probably 5 pounds of scallops in the freezer and 8 pounds of 16-21 shrimp in the freezer. Gonna be eating well on those things :D

Looks real tasty. Instructions are simple too!

Always jealous of your fresh shrimp. I picked up a 2Lb bag of frozen jumbos yesterday. I just checked the bag - - - Farmed in Indonesia. Haha! WTF!
Hard to afford anything American made anymore! Inda didn't tell us what he paid for those, but I'd bet those would be in the price range of Lobster here in Central Virginia shipped straight from LA. Heck, "buying local" around here is a rich mans game too, for everything. We have a lot of farms, but for some reason it doesn't help with the prices. Same with wines, beers and distilleries.

I did a fairly quick search and not much out there on steaming the typical low country boil ingredients...but some people ARE doing a sheet pan version in the oven. I keep wanting to do a boil, but the wife hates peeling cooked shrimp (in fact she doesn't even like it when just the tail is left on) and I prefer shrimp to be deveined, especially colossal shrimp like that...the poop shoot on those must be big!

I may try an altered version combining the typical ingredients but the feel just wont be the same. The thing with the LCB is the ease, like Inda showed us right here, and the ceremony of dumping it all out on a surface for everybody to pick at.

Looks fantastic Keith. We can get American wild caught up here but only in the smaller sizes. The jumbos we get are all farm raised in other countries. So I'm another jealous SMF member.

Point for sure
Chris

Oh man, I would need a couple of these
