My Jerky drier doesn't work. Brand new and just got it out of the package. I contacted the company. They asked for pictures. I sent them. They think it might be wired wrong and the black and red wire might need to go to the open connector rather than as a ground the way mine is wired. They want me to plug the red / black wire into the open connector. Not easy unless I redo the ends of the wire.

Would anyone that has one of these look at my image and see if that is how theirs is wired? The red / black wire is the one with the red arrow pointing to it, in case you can't tell from the pic.

Thanks

Them " thinking" that may be it instead of knowing is absurd. More absurd is their solution being you rewire it instead of them replacing it.

I pulled the wire out that they said to reconnect. Turns out it was soldered in. I rewired it, but it still did not run. And now it's for sure destroyed!

Yea.. and now they won't honor any kind of warranty because it has been "modified" ... Myself I wouldn't have messed with it... I'd have sent it back for another one...

Perhaps so.

Perhaps so. I was just trying to be cooperative and do as they asked. I don't really understand why they didn't just compare the pics I sent them, how this one was wired, against one of their new ones and see if they were wired the same? But at this point they have not said what they plan to do, so I'm not going to criticize them. They did reach out to me soon after I told them I had an issue with their product. So we'll see?

My experience is that they take care of their customers. Hopefully that'll be yours as well. I would be a bit put off if asked to mess with the wiring on a new product though.

While I wouldn't sweat it either way, its always nice to see companies that bend over backwards to support their customer base.

If the company suggests that the red and black wire should go into the open connector instead of being grounded, it’s worth trying their recommendation. If you’re unable to easily change the wire connection without redoing the ends, you could ask the company for further guidance or a step-by-step on how to modify the connection. If it’s a new unit and the wiring issue is a manufacturing problem, consider requesting a replacement or repair.
