I'm guessing you didn't want ANY radiant heat to get in the smoke chamber. :)

Pretty darned good engineering for a first attempt IMHO.

Awesome little rig!!!!

At first I thought it was a magic smoker that only had two legs. LOL

Then I saw the third.

It looks like you have decent equipment by the looks of the vent holes in the firebox door.

No worry about not being a reverse flow, you can fix that with the next build. 

Most of us that build, just can't sit back and be happy. We have to start another build.

I have two drums, two ECB's, a chargriller, a fresh built RF side firebox, another of the same but not built yet beside the house, the monster smoker trailer, and a few odds and ends to get started on at least three more trailer rigs. 

BTW,,,,,I am on the other end of the spectrum then you are, LOL my trailer build just tipped the scales at 9000lbs. She has a weight problem, its ok, we're working on it and should be under control as soon as the diesel P.U. hits the road as a tow rig for the smoker.

spankercheif  the fire box was a piece of the back bone of my Buddy's English wheel we made. it was a drop. i didn't want it rust out. lol  i am planing  another build i think i got a line on a 500 gal tank just have to pick it up.

tom37  i have a pretty stocked shop in my back yard  makes the work real easy.  saws, sanders, welders and a Bridgeport  i need a bigger shop lol

this is my first smoker. i built last year. the small one to use it more often.

it  works well but takes a lot of heat to keep the temp up.

a little trick a leaf blower will make your fire burn really hot. turns the steel all pretty blues and purples.  and cleans all the gas out out of the metal.

Where did you get the rail ends? They look cool on your smoker!

got a 3ft section when they were cutting out old rail at work. the cut them up to make a clock. they sat on my bench at work for years and my buddy was braking my chop to get rid of them. he said i would never use them. so i took them home and the sat for awhile. then i started this and was determined not to spend any money on it. total money spent was the cost of the spring handles and thermometer. every thing else was scrounged up. the tank came from a chevy malibu cng car my buddy didn't know what to do with. i knew what it was going to become. the fire box is from my buddy's english wheel We made

and the rest was laying around my shop as scraps for other projects.
