I'm not familiar with that either, but I am willing to spend a wee bit extra for good mayo. Case in point: Kewpie from a good Asian store. Pricey but well worth it for the umami kick. World Market sells it but from my experience, it has to be an Americanized version that lacks the magic of what you can get at a legit Asian market. I too hope you grab some and report back. It could be a civic duty of sorts! :-)
Kewpie also makes a wasabi mayo that is much harder to find, but well worth the $$.

I just don't consider Miracle Whip to be mayo, it even refers to itself as a salad dressing. Not a hater, just think it's an apples to oranges comparison. I think it's similar to calling Durkees, mustard. It's mustard like, but certainly not mustard.
I am a lover of the MW and never could understand the whole salad dressing part.

Is there a salad dressing thread so I can go drop a little Kraft Zesty Catalina mention 😂

Naw, I took it in good humor for sure. It's been a long time since I've had any Hunts ketchup. I'm into the Heinz No Sugar Added.
I've been making my own ketchup since we went low carb (off the wagon a bit lately). I still make it today. Most off the shelf sugar free stuff like that, I can still taste the artificial sweetener. Have never found a sugar free soda I can stand for instance, even the expensive one with sucralose, which was a disappointment. I haven't had a good rum and coke in years, mainly because I dont drink sugar or HFCS either.

I can share the recipe but I usually dont. Most people arent willing to seek out and pay the money for Natural Mate Sucralose with erythritol granulated sweetener. It's one of those "if you substitute anything, dont complain to me, you didn't follow the recipe" things! That sweetener is the only one I can stand, like in a cup of tea. "Almost" unnoticeable.

Buy mayo, buy wasabi, mix to taste , enjoy more cheaper. I mix mayo, wasabi, soy and roasted sesame oil to dip seared ahi tuna. Tasty
Good point, just so happens I do have some wasabi powder. I used it recently to put on some smoked almonds.

I'mma sit out the Mayo Wars when it comes to that. DIY mayonnaise is so easy, and so easy to tweak to one's personal preferences, that I can't imagine buying mass-market stuff. But I also didn't grow up with one brand or another getting tied to one's personal or household identity.

Start blending a couple eggs, juice of a lemon, bit of mustard, bit of garlic, whatever else you want to add in, and then slowly add oil until it gets to the right consistency. Done.

No war. Ann got me a squeeze bottle of Mikes today. Forgot about it the other day. I'll try it in the next day or so. This type of thing is so regional. That there is no right. Or wrong.

Yea, it's just a discussion for me. I dont even remember mayo when I was a kid. Don't remember if it was that I didn't like it or mom didn't keep it in the fridge. I was always a mustard guy and as I got older I started liking mayo more, but there was always that something I didn't super-like. Then one day I tried Hellman's instead of the...probably Kraft I had been buying, and my mind changed. Didn't discover Dukes till later. I dont think it made it out of the Carolina's for a while. I was up in the awful Northern Virginia until moving to real Virginia 23 years ago. It might have been available in Virginia south of I-64 back then, what we call the "sweet tea line". Hard to find sweet tea the farther north you go! Dukes is available everywhere in Central Virginia now.

Torch, I've always wanted to make my own mayo. Not sure why I haven't, maybe because I can eat Dukes right off the spoon! I need to put that on my to-do list.

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was
manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars
of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was
to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New
York. This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise
ever delivered to Mexico. But as we know, the great ship did not make
it to New York. The ship hit an iceberg and sank. The people of
Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its
delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great,
that they declared a National Day of Mourning.

The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known,
of course, as -
Sinko De Mayo.

Ok. After using Mikes in sandwiches, salads, recipes, and dipping. I'm sticking with Dukes. If I can't find Dukes. Then it will be Hellmanns. There is just something lacking with Mikes. Just not what I was expecting.
