Spent the weekend moving. In order to thank the friends who came and helped I decided to feed them well. Sat started with just me and 1 other moving. When we dropped off the first load I ducked into the kitchen as Matt moved boxes.
Got 6 lb of beef roast in the crock with 1 bottle of beer, a quart of beef stock, soysauce, 1 packet dry mix for italian dressing and soy sauce. A sliced onion was added for good measure along with a few dried herbs.
This didn't take long so I was quickly able to get back to work unloading boxes. More help soon joined us and soon we were ready to get the job done. A few trips and the food was smelling great. I decided to let everyone rest since I had to wait for the cable guy and so the beer flowed. I kept tormenting everyone by opening the crock pot lid and letting the smell out. It smelled delicious.
After we waited forever for the cable guy we were able to make the last trip and finish the job.
Now that I was officially moved in I was able to turn my attention back to the food. With the assistance of 2 plastic forks I was able to shred the beef and create some very tasty french dip sammies. Some fries a beer and the sammie and everyone was happy. There are benifits to helping me move.
A friend had come all the way from stark to give me a hand so he stayed that night and in the morning I made breakfast. A fritata made with the beef from the previous night was a hearty way to start the day. We headed out for some fishing and returned in time to watch my vikings forget how to play football.
A final thanks was given to Matt for all his help in the form of a very good sandwich. A true manwich minus that crap in a can.
Thin steak was marinated with S&P, fresh rosemary and oil. all this went into a bag and the bag was pounded in order to beat the flavor into the steaks. After 3 hours of marinading I seared them in a very hot pan till browned on the outside but still a lil rare on the inside.
A large multi-grain french loaf was split lengthwise, coated with mustard, had bitter greens stacked on it, a nice squirt of lemon juice, S&P. I then sliced and layered the beef on top of that. Poured all the juices that came out during the slicing over it and then added in some slowly sauted onions.
Yes It was incredible.
Two big eaters couldn't finish this sandwich. It sure made a good snack that night!
